Packaging:

In the busy and fast paced world we live in we sometimes overlook some key details of the shipping process. Packaging is one detail that needs atention in direct proportion to its importance. A small amount of time invested at the origin will certainly be a wise investment of your time and money. A well packaged shipment will flow through the system faster and safer. The equipment being shipped should be compatible with the skid it is shipped on with no overhanging and nothing sticking out. This will save you money because whether you ship via common carrier or air freight carrier, the dimensions of the package will influence the cost. Also keep in mind that the minimum width for a pallet jack entry should be no less than 28" and the height of the pallet jack entry a minimum of 3 1/2 inches. Note that the banding should always be done in a way that it will not be exposed to the forklift or pallet jack blades.

This box was packaged in a way that it has enough width and height for a pallet jack or a forklift and yet uses no more of a skid that it absolutely needs, so the shipper does not pay any extra for the cubic measurement.
The dimensions of the packaging may affect the shipping cost. All carriers (common carriers, motor carriers, air freight carriers or moving and storage companies) are very aware of the importance of the density of your product's packaging and each one will look at the dimensions and/or classification of your product to determine its "chargeable weight". Here is a way to understand how it works. Suppose you are shipping a pallet with a few boxes on it, the actual weight is 450 lbs and the dimensions are 40" x 48" x 60". The dimensional weight will be: 40x48x60=115200. Now you divide this result by 194 or 115200 divided by 194 = 593.81 and that is your chargeable weight. For further information, contact Freightways. We will be glad to assist you.
Shipment Tips: Scheduling

Although in many cases we can do a same day pick up, we recommend that you plan your shipment ahead of time. Traffic, weather conditions and other factors beyond our control may affect our ability to perform what you requested. So, planning your shipments in advance is the best policy.
